Project Overview
Smart Energy Solutions for a Sustainable Future – S3SF is a EU Erasmus+ funded project which offers a transnational vocational education and training program, equipping professionals with smart energy system skills. The comprehensive training focuses on energy efficiency and user-centric systems, entrepreneurial attitudes and digital skills. S3SF is all about establishing a decentralized training approach and encouraging smart energy system adoption through consumer-oriented simulations.
The S3SF is a VET curriculum for smart energy systems in a digital platform where energy proffesionals can enroll to modules but also simulate energy savings. Additionally the digital platform aims to establish a network of VET providers, engage stakeholders and disseminate results for wider impact.
Project Priorities
S3SF project puts the environment and fight against climate change as the first priority, by focusing on smart energy systems that enhance energy efficiency and reduce greenhóuse gas emissions, contributing to the EU’s climate neutrality plan by 2050.
Smart energy systems (SES) focus on reducing energy waste, prevalent in households, industries, and the service sector. By minimizing energy waste, SES effectively reduces overall energy demand, emphasizing better utilization of existing resources. Examples of SES include demand response management, energy storage, and microgrids, which optimize energy consumption and reduce the strain on conventional resources.
In addition the project focuses on adapting vocational education and training to the labor market needs as well as create and implement internationalisation strategies for VET providers. S3SF recognizes the demand for skilled professionals in renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. By developing a comprehensive training program addressing the latest developments in smart energy systems and user-centric solutions, S3SF ensures that the workforce is prepared to meet theevolving energy landscape’s challenges and opportunities, bridging the skills gap and promoting economic growth.
S3SF fosters international cooperation among VET providers by establishing a network of training centers and partnerships across Europe, facilitating the exchange of best practices, resources, and knowledge, and supporting the harmonization of vocational education and training standards in the smart energy systems field. S3SF’s digital platform enables professionals to simulate energy savings for consumers adopting smart energy systems, promoting their widespread adoption and contributing to energy efficiency goals.

Key strategies
- Developing a transnational, up-to-date VET program: S3SF will create a tailored curriculum focused on smart energy systems, energy efficiency, and user-centric solutions. This equips professionals with necessary skills and knowledge, addressing the skills gap in the industry.
- Fostering collaboration and internationalization: S3SF will establish a collaborative framework among participating institutions, trainers, and learners, promoting a standardized understanding of smart energy systems and facilitating nternationalization strategies for VET providers.
- Encouraging diversity and entrepreneurial attitudes: S3SF will promote equal opportunities and participation from underrepresented groups in the energy sector, fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. The project will nurture entrepreneurial attitudes and digital skills development among participants.
- Creating a digital platform and simulation methodology: A user-friendly digital platform and standardized simulation methodology will enable professionals to assess energy savings for consumers and recommend appropriate smart energy systems solutions, popularizing the use of such systems and supporting market growth.
- Building a network of partnerships for VET: S3SF will establish a well-connected network of VET providers across Europe, facilitating the dissemination and implementation of the smart energy systems training program, contributing to the expansion of the SES sector and supporting the EU Green Deal and REPowerEU initiative.
