Skillman Forum Recap!

Training 2000 (Italy) recently participated in the Skillman Forum conference held in Montecatini Terme, Italy, on December 11-12, 2024. This event provided a vital platform to highlight the success of the S3SF project, particularly showcasing the ready-to-use VET curriculum and online training resources available on the S3SF training platform. During the forum, participants engaged in small roundtable discussions aimed at developing solutions for the Skillman Villa, a new International Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs.eu) located in Tuscany. This center is designed to enhance high-quality vocational training programs that align with labor market needs at regional, national, and international levels.

Kylene De Angelis and Sara Caboni from Training 2000 facilitated the roundtable dedicated to the S3SF project. They presented the project’s outcomes to academicians, teachers and trainers, emphasizing how these results could be integrated into various educational contexts for diverse purposes in the energy sector. Participants were introduced to the training content, which includes interactive quizzes and self-assessment tests designed to help learners achieve specific learning outcomes. Anticipation was high regarding the forthcoming development of the S3SF simulation methodology for energy saving, a collaborative effort between two partner universities: the University of the Shannon (TUS) and Aalborg University.

At the conclusion of the S3SF roundtable, both coordinators from Training 2000 and participants brainstormed several project ideas for the Skillman Villa. These proposals were centered on implementing the S3SF training program tailored for future Skillman Villa learners with diverse needs. Additionally, discussions explored the potential for integrating smart energy solutions within the Villa building, connecting it to local homeowners and industries to establish a renewable energy community. This collaborative effort underscored the potential for innovative solutions that could arise from such networking opportunities. Participants were also invited to join the S3SF network, reinforcing the importance of collaboration for both green skills development in VET to empower individuals with key technical, digital and entrepreneurial skills in the energy sector, thus supporting the achievement of carbon neutrality in Europe by 2050.
